Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox Fort Lauderdale Concert reviews
The National at The Fillmore/Denver
The National played almost all of High Violet on Monday night, hitting nothing but high notes. They performed quite a few songs from the older stuff I hoped to hear - Brainy, Abel, Mistaken for Strangers, Squalor Victoria, Fake Empire, Start a War (opened the show with & amazing), Mr. November. The band talked a lot between songs, and the crowd was eating it up. Matt even jumped into the crowd toward the end of the show, singing as he made his way to the end of the room and back. They are touring with a horn section that adds a nice touch to their songs, never overplaying.
The audience begged for more after they left the stage, and Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox returned for a few gems, closing the show with an a capella version of Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks - goosebumps!!!
Fans of The National - both recent and older - had a great night, but they didn’t sing some of my faves. "About Today" is one I really hoped to hear.
Oh, and Matt looked pretty hot - in black head to toe, almost GQ in a good way.
